Year of 2014
December 31, 2014
- 15:01 MST: Data for CH1 has been repaired on Dec 24 through 27, see data quality statement for more details. -Afshin Andreas
- 10:43 MST: See BMS data quality statements for recent problems with Direct CH1, Direct TUVR, Direct CUVB2, and Global CUV4. -Afshin Andreas
- 16:24 MST: There is a possible problem with the SRRL BMS Downwelling PIR which started yesterday at 10:00 MST, which is causing a possible 10-15 W/m^2 error. Problem could be due to possible water infiltration into temporary J-box which was not oriented in the proper position to shed water. All temporary J-box have been re-oriented correctly, however connections for PIR may need to dry out. -Afshin Andreas
- 14:09 MST: The SRRL BMS HMP45C measuring Deck Dry Bulb Temp and Relative Humidity was replaced with a HMP60 at 10:09 MST yesterday. -Afshin Andreas
- 16:53 MST: Starting next week the singal cabling, junction boxes, and patch panel at SRRL will be replaced, this affects the BORCAL and BMS. Therefore a temporary data acquisition system was installed to support BMS during the upgrade which could take up to 2 months depending on weather. The temporary data acquisition system went online at 10:09 MST. The temporary system will only collect data from primary measurements, the following measurements will be unavailable during this time:
Global SP-110
Global UVB-1
Direct NIP (unit 2)
Shadowband PSP
Zebra PSP
All UV case temperatures
All BMS Research Channels
TWC Photometer/AOD
DataLab Temp/RH
Global PSP (unventilated), note this will be permanently removed from service.
-Afshin Andreas
- 15:37 MST: The Prede POM-02 Photometer at SolarTAC was permanently removed from service on October 29, 2014. -Afshin Andreas
- 12:28 MST: Intermittent problem with SRRL LI-1800 global spectroradiometer was caused by faulty serial communication cable. The cable has been replaced with a temporary cable which seems to have resolved the issue. -Afshin Andreas
- 15:55 MST: The SRRL BMS Upwelling PIR was swapped with calibrated sensor at 15:29 MST. The new sensor was temporarily installed on the radiometer tower CR3000 (instead of Deck CR3000) in preparation for deck cable upgrades later this month. -Afshin Andreas
- 09:24 MST: Data collection to the SRRL LI-1800 global spectroradiometer has been intermittent since Nov 9, instrument is old and may be failing. -Afshin Andreas

- 15:34 MST: The data logger at the SRRL BMS Radiometer tower was upgraded from a CR10X-TD to a CR3000 between 10:40 and 11:45 MST today. The following sensors will be bogus during that time: Global CM3, Quantum LI-190, and Photometric LI-210; Upwelling CM3, CG3, PSP, and LI-200; Downwelling CG3; Global 40-S/90-N/90-E/90-W PSP & LI-200; Snow Depth; EFM; WS & WD @ 6ft. -Afshin Andreas
- 17:51 MST: The SRRL Direct Normal Quantum sensor was calibrated on November 6, 2014 outdoors against the NIST traceable LI-1800 PRS-102 spectroradiometer. The new calibration factor was applied today @ 17:48 MST. -Afshin Andreas
- 13:49 MST: The SRRL PGS-100 spectroradiometer was calibrated on November 6, 2014 outdoors against the NIST traceable LI-1800 PRS-102 spectroradiometer. The new calibration file was applied to data starting at 13:45 MST today. -Afshin Andreas
- 10:20 MST: The SRRL BMS LICOR LI-1800 Global Spectroradiometer was removed from service on 4-Nov-2014 and calibrated against NIST FEL F680 Lamp Standard. Instrument was within 2-3% of NIST values, instrument was recalibrated and returned to service. Unfortunately due to a problem with the serial communications cable, the data collection did not resume until sunrise today. -Afshin Andreas
- 14:26 MST: The SRRL BMS Global Normal CM21 was swapped out with a sensor calibrated in BORCAL 2014-02 between 8:50 and 9:15 today. Calibration factor was updated in logger at 9:05 MST today. Note: Moisture was observed in dome on Sept 12, hence the instrument was swapped out for this reason as well. -Afshin Andreas
- 07:31 MST: The SRRL ATI has been malfunctioning since 06/08/2014, data should not be used. -Afshin Andreas
- 15:49 MST: The filter correction factor for the SRRL BMS Global PSP RG780 was recomputed and applied at 15:28 MST today using RG780 filter transmission spectra vs clear dome transmission spectra that were measured on 6/20/2014. -Afshin Andreas
- 15:47 MST: The SRRL BMS Global TSP-1 and Diffuse CUV4 were permanently removed from service @ 14:58 MST today, values report missing (-99999). -Afshin Andreas

- 07:12 MST: The (3) Eppley Ventilators mounted on the SRRL BMS Sci-Tec tracker were upgraded from AC to DC fans between 12:30 and 17:00 MST yesterday. This applies to the Diffuse 8-48, Diffuse PSP, and Downwelling PIR. During this time data from the PSP is bogus, since the 8-48 and PIR were rotated to the shaded PSP position during upgrade to help maintain shading of 8-48 and PIR. The (2) ventilators for the Global PSP and RG780 PSP will be upgraded later this week. -Afshin Andreas
